Finally ordered my Wii Fit

It is like the hottest commodities in gaming industry, Wii Fit is always out of stock whenever it is available. I'd spent almost 1 month monitoring the stock at various online stores and finally I beat the rest on the latest Toys R Us stock and got myself one. Hurray.

And I'm waiting for Wii Fit accessories after ordered it from Woolworth. Even the accessories are not available on the spot.

Finally a Wii

Yesterday I went to town center and bought a Wii. game.co.uk is having a bundle sale for £199.99 to get both Ultimate Board Game and Sega Superstar Tennis. This is my first ever game console as I'd ever bought and played.

For now, I'm waiting for a HD components cable, Wii Play and Nunchuck to complete the purchase.

Timber Fence for Garden

Bellway didn't put up timber fence panel for the entire garden, and is charging £4xx to get it done for 1 side.

We got our timber fence sorted and the wire fences were gone, but they are in my Snow in Spring. Paid £240 to get 1 side having the other side belongs to the neighbour. Cherlyn's colleague recommended Shrivenham Fencing, and we are happy with their work and speed.

Busy CNY weekend

Went to Bristol last Saturday, and the weather was great. It felt like Spring is approaching since dust has prolong from 4pm to 6:20pm now. We had dinner at the chinese restaurant just to have a small family dinner together with my sis.

On Sunday, Cherlyn finished plant the flowers near the pavement.

My sis paid us a visit and helped us at home. Managed to finish assembled 2x IKEA cabinets and dining chairs.

Cherlyn finished sewing the curtain for living room.

And the TV arrived at night.

Using Slingbox or gogoMedia to broadcast home CCTV

Been research for sometime and for a cheap cctv. In brief, I found 3 options. You can buy Motorola Homesight HMEZ2000 for £66.

But there is a monthly subscription payable to myhome247 to remote access the camera and with ability to receive text alarm.

2nd option is get a wifi camera from linksys or dlink and hook it to the wifi network. If you can VPN back home, I believe you can access the wifi camera., but there is no notification or motion capture.

Traditionaly, most CCTV has a SCART plug to connect to your TV.

GetPLC Smart CCTV is one of the model HomeBase has stock.

The 3rd option need a Slingbox. Not only you get to enjoy your TV channel or recorded show anywhere you go, you can also use the SCART plug to connect the CCTV into it and your house anywhere you go. I think this option give you better value as it is subscription free. Of course, it would be nice to connect Slingbox to PIR motion detection in order to snapshot of your house on any movement as there isn't any yet.

Alternate to Slingbox, Adigit gogomedia Pro a Taiwanese product that rival Slingbox seems to do it all. I extracted this diagram from their website. Unlike slingbox where you need to connect to sling website, you can directly connect to gogomedia as it has ddns option and support recording!

The price is a bit steep at £250, but as compare to Sling, you get multi access capability. Adigit PDF brochure is available here and manual here. Unfortunately the model I'm interested in this post is the Surveillance model but it is not for retail. :(

Furniture and Washer delivery

Been busy since Wednesday night as we were rushing to complete painting the last room in order to bring up the cabinet we bought from IKEA from the living room to give room for Habitat furniture delivery on Thurday. At the same time, I need to drill a hole for the washer's cold water intake pipe and waste hose.

I'm very satisfy with Dixons/Currys delivery service. 5 star for Dixons!

In the evening, we spent about 2 hours just to assemble the the Kasha sofa, Aspen TV console (25kg) and dining table (20kg) from Habitat. The table glass top is 43kg!

Dixons Samsung LE40M86BD Deal at £701.05

We had finally decided to go for Samsung LE40M86BD instead of LE40F86BDX with 100Hz.

At first I thought the Dixons' FIVEOFFTV code (5% off) is over, but it still works. The only expired code was PR25 for £25 off. Instead Iuse AW20 for £20 off. I ordered it yesterday for £701.05.

Just as I thought the stock won't come for Dixons' LE40F86BDX , it is now available and can be purchased for £986.99 using the same codes.

Deal from Sky & Cost Calculation

With just 1 call to Sky for confirmation on my previous booked Pay Once Watch Forever from Dixons, I got more discount from Sky. It all started with BT. BT had rescheduled my telephone landline installation from 18 Feb to 3/3. Frustrating as I won't be able to online at home.

Anyway, the deal I'm getting from Sky via phone instead of online is £124.99 cashback on the BT connection, £30 broadband installation waive for broadband connection once my BT line is ready, £50 M&S or NEXT voucher each for me and friend who has a Sky contract and £49 for Sky+ box (£99 for buying it online). However I'm not entirely satisfy as I know people able to get Sky+ for free. I'm going to phone Sky retention team and hopefully I can work out a deal with them. Finger cross.

Variety Channels I picked

Sky+ box for £49 instead of £99

16mb for £10 pending on BT line connection

This is the combo I would take if I have a BT landline, paying extra £50 for Sky+

The reason I picked Sky instead of Sky Pay Once Watch Forever deal I bought from Dixons is the combine calculation that make Sky the winner. First of all, BT is charging me £124.99 BT connection for new home and line rental is £10.5 per month with 12 months compulsory contract (exit contract need to pay £70 penalty) . This spoilt my intention to take Tiscali £14.99 8mb plan with free Bt line rental. Therefore I'll be paying £25.49 with BT with Tiscali for broadband. But with Sky 16mb unlimited, I will save £4.99 each month. As for Sky Pay Once £70.5/12 month = £5.875 vs £16 Sky contract, this is justified by £124.99 BT connection cashback and Sky+ box at £49.9. If I can get the box for free, then there is no different in term of payment, but a greater deal.

  • BT and BT Connection & Sky Pay Once & Tiscali = 10.5+(124.99/12) +(70.5/12)+14.99 = 41.78 per month
  • BT without connect (as Sky cashback) & Sky TV & Broadband & Sky+ = 10.5+16+10+(49/12)=40.58 per month

Clearly Sky package is slightly cheaper and on top of that, I have not include £50 voucher from Sky. This calculation only correct if you are a new home owner that you need to pay BT Connection fee.

Update 5/2: I called Sky 3 times, 1st time was on hold for >5min, 2nd time the guy was straightforward and wanting to cancel my package, but I told him i'll reconsider and 3rd time I make an excuse and told the guy Virgin is giving V+ box for free. But the sales advisor told me Sky+ box will not be given for free. Ok, tough luck but at least I tried.

Comet's Dyson DC18 for £179.99 or Currys's Dyson DC15 for £184.00

Been looking for a vacuum clean and finally decided to go for Dyson. Although initially plan to go for DC07 Oridinal from JohnLewis when it is selling for £139 (£119 after discount code, but they were out of stock) but then decided we need the slim type. So, just ordered Dyson slim DC18 all floors from Comet as it is cheaper compare to Dyson for £279.99 and JohnLewis for £229.99 (use £20 off code will be £209.99). Also comes with 5 years warranty free.

Actually can get the same price at Littlewoods Direct after 10% off. But we decided to go Comet for collection.

Although space saving is important, on second thought, I'd reservev Dyson DC15 as Currys is running half price deal. Both reserve collection will be at Chippenham, so I have 1 day to make my decision.

Update 3/2: When I was in Comet, I got a call from Currys saying DC15 I reserved was no longer available. Therefore it was destined for me to pick DC18 Slim. While I was there, I picked up Panasonic NN-E205WBBPQ manual microwave with the usual timer and power dials. I reckon the digital one might be too advance for me. It was having a promo at £39.99

B&Q 18v cordless Driver for £66.59 & painting

Went to B&Q yesterday and saw this Bosch 18v Lion battery version of drill driver is having a discount. Very good deal and I intend to return my 14.4v drill driver.

To continue our wall painting, we bought masking tape and fine brushes. The brushes served us well and we are glad with it.

The Masking tape is too sticky that Cherlyn use her thigh to reduce the stickiness
